August 15th, 2021-2022, marks the 75th Indian Independence year and Sri Aurobindo\u2019s 150 Birth Anniversary Year. Being a Parent \/ Alumni of Sri Aurobindo International School, one can take the opportunity to be informed and revisit the vision and aims of our School which are inspired by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sri Aurobindo was an inspiration and wielded immense influence on the great leaders of our freedom struggle such as S C Bose, Tagore, Tilak, Sister Nivedita and many more to awaken to the call of Swaraj. When CR Das took charge of the Defense of Sri Aurobindo for the Alipore Bomb trial, he proclaimed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c he will be looked upon as the poet of patriotism, as the prophet of nationalism and the lover of humanity. Long after he is dead and gone, his words will be echoed and re-echoed not only in India, but across distant seas and lands \u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is important to learn about Sri Aurobindo\u2019s life and vision of India because he was intrinsically linked with the past of Bharat and linked with her present and future. If India has to develop optimally and be reborn to her greatness, Sri Aurobindo\u2019s vision of India needs to be understood clearly as it is relevant to our identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his Mann ki Baat on November 29th 2020, Prime Minister Modi said, \u201cThe more we read Sri Aurobindo, the greater is the insight that we get. The more my young friends learn about Sri Aurobindo, the greater will they learn about themselves, enriching themselves. The state of inner consciousness in which you are, where you are, where you are engaged in trying to achieve the many resolves\u2026 you will find him showing a new path!\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modi also mentioned how in the light of the new approach to India\u2019s education, NEP 2020 was inspired and reflects the core of Sri Aurobindo\u2019s educational vision written in his essays on National Education a hundred years back. Also, \u2018Atmanirbhar Bharat\u2019 is based on Sri Aurobindo\u2019s concept of self reliant India through his concept of Swadeshi, Boycott and Non Cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let us be inspired and guided by Sri Aurobindo\u2019s reassurance of India\u2019s destiny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIndia of the ages is not dead nor has she spoken her last creative word; she lives and has still something to do for herself and the human peoples. And that which must seek now to awake is not an anglicised oriental people, docile pupil of the West and doomed to repeat the cycle of the occident’s success and failure, but still the ancient immemorable Shakti recovering her deepest self, lifting her head higher towards the supreme source of light and strength and turning to discover the complete meaning and a vaster form of her Dharma.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
